I grew up in Syracuse, New York, and went to college in Buffalo, where I studied illustration, design, Jane Austen, and Canada.  After a year in Philadelphia spent dressing up as your favorite childhood characters at a Barnes & Noble (my interpretation of Arthur the Anteater made a small child cry), I moved to Boston for graduate school, where I received my MFA from Emerson College.  Now I call Boston home.  I like chowder but not lobster, and have been a bassoonist, a planetarium operator, a coffee jerk, a designer, a proposal writer, and a karaoke god.  So far.

My first novel, This Must Be the Place, will be published by Henry Holt & Company in July 2010.
